Every Life Research Unit exists to bring a strong, research-based approach to policy issues that are core to human life.
Our guiding ethos is that every human life is valuable - every human life deserves to be included.
Public policy encompasses many complex issues that often require detailed knowledge and keen insight across a vast array of fields. Some of these complex issues - such as the economy, social policy, housing, and education - are well served by researchers and analysts providing information, analysis and ideas to Ministers, MPs and their advisers.
But some issues are less well served. Most especially those that touch on fundamental questions about the value of a human life; that involve intensely complex and personal decisions of individuals and families; and that require legislators to weigh and balance competing rights of individuals within society.
As a research unit, the work of Every Life is dedicated to these issues. Every Life brings the best of international and New Zealand research and commentary, and original analysis and ideas to bear upon discussion and debate on fundamental human life policy issues. It resources and connects Ministers, MPs and their advisers with the evidence, information, and expertise they need to assist in the consideration of these issues.
